Ali Abdullah’s story is about the duplicity of the Salvation Army, the Arab armies, who were ordered to disarm the local Palestinian fighters and then handed their village over to the Israeli troops. He was one of the few villagers to stay behind to defend the village. He had used the family’s savings to buy bullets.

Ali continued to cherish the memory of Palestine until his death. Although he realised that he would never get to see his native village again, he made his children and grandchildren promise to rebury his bones in Palestinian soil.
